In June 2020, the European Commission launched an investigation into Apple's limitations on streaming and book applications after receiving complaints from Spotify and an ebook/audiobook distributor. By April 2021, the Commission presented a Statement of Objections regarding Apple's dominant position in the streaming app distribution market. App developers must distribute their applications through Apple's App Store, which is subject to Apple's approval. The Commission primarily focused its concerns on music streaming applications. In February 2023, the Commission updated its objections by concentrating on Apple’s agreements with app developers.
