Foreign investment in Canada is now subject to an Economic Security Review

The Canadian government has revised its guidelines on the Investment Canada Act to incorporate an economic security review. Previously, foreign investments were only evaluated through a national security review, which did not address economic security. Mergers may now also be subject to an economic security review.
